About Us
Heritage Acres Food Story
Our food story begins like so many of them do. Conventional production- poisonous sprays- severe health problems and sickness in the family and finally searching deep and wide for something better. With the firm conviction that the health crisis we face can only be properly addressed through better nutrition and discarding of refined foods, we have engaged in a mission to do what we can toward this end.
Our vision is akin to that of Hippocrates, the famous Greek physician and father of modern medicine. His most often quoted motto is, Let your food be your medicine and your medicine your food. After much study on nutrition and nutrient dense foods, we are convinced that a desirable degree of health can be achieved through proper exercise and eating habits and are willing to discuss any of the above with those who are willing to learn and share.
Our biodynamic produce, pastured poultry products, milk-fed pork (diet includes milk and cheese by-products) and 100% grass-fed beef and eggs can be found in many health food stores and fine dining restaurants in the Lansing, Mount Pleasant, and Grand Rapids areas and has extended to a degree in the Detroit and Chicago metro areas.
Heritage Farms was certified organic for poultry production for three years by OGM ending October 31, 2006. Our organic birds were raised and slaughtered while under this certification. Currently, we raise our poultry in a manner that would meet organic standards except for the use of organic feed. We raise meat birds only during the spring, summer, and fall so that they can be out on pasture.

We belong to a Mennonite church, drive horse and buggy and use horses in our farming. We look forward to hearing from all of you.
