About Us
Named for the sandhill cranes that make the farm their home each spring, Crane Dance Farm nestles among the rolling hills, woodlands, and wetlands of Barry County ~ a perfect setting for a sustainable, regenerative, grass-based farm. Providing chemical-free, healthy, and delicious pork, beef, lamb, poultry and eggs is our life-goal, as we work humanely with animals and in harmony with the land.
Ingredients We Use
Only the VERY best! No preservatives, no MSG, no irradiation, no JUNK!
Our Practices
Grass-fed. Sustainable. Humane.
Because we are committed to genetic diversity, we include endangered heirloom animals in our breeding stock. Our pastures include a wide variety of native grasses, legumes and broadleaf plants. Our ruminants (cows, sheep, goats) eat pasture only, our omnivores (pigs and poultry)eat pasture as well as a mostly organic, mineral and probiotic-rich grain that we grind ourselves. Never do we use herbicides, pesticides or chemical fertilizers on our land. At Crane Dance Farm, lush pastures, portable pens, fresh air and sunshine nurture animals to thrive without the use of hormones, systemic biocides or antibiotics.
Highlights
~We are a small, local, two woman-owned and operated farm. Jill and Mary are the farmers as well as the marketers, and we take great pride in knowing that we are working hard to do the
right things for the planet.
~The vast majority of our ruminants, pigs and poultry are bred, birthed/hatched, and raised on our farm, assuring quality control from breeding through processing.
~We grind our own mineral and probiotic-rich grains, mostly grown by a local certified organic grower or purchased from dependable local sources. We avoid supporting any aspect of the industrial agriculture complex, which would chemical-coat, genetically modify or inhumanely house or treat animals.
