About Us
We came to West Michigan to begin an organic farm and CSA at a charter school...West MI Academy of Enviornmental Science in Walker. The children were involved with everything growing their own food and the shareholders were keeping the fields producing in the summer. Unfortuately, the school got into financial problems, hired in a management group & dropped the program after only two years.
We did raise seasonal vegetables and melons on Bob Johnson's certified organic land in Kent City. However, over the winter Bob died. We will be farming on some piece of land, Lord will, this growing season. During the growing season we sell at Fulton Street Farmers Market and Sweetwater Local Foods Market.
We are distributors of Fertrell organic/natural fertilizers and feed supplements selling to stores, farmers and homeowners. We will list our most popular products for the homeowner. We do educational programs and will consult on your gardening and farming needs. We also sell an assortment of books on agriculture, health and related topics. We market for other farmers who choose to produce nutrient dense products of high quality.
We encourage shoppers to visit our farm and see the health of our sheep, chickens and ducks. We have chicken and duck eggs as well as lamb for sale.
We conducted the Winter Film Series/Farmers Market at Wealthy Theater two Wed. evenings a month, October thru June.
Our Practices
We follow organic practices, some years doing the extra paper work to become Certified Organic. We use some of the Biodynamic Preparations in our compost and on the soil and crops. The products that we sell of Fertrell we use with the soil, plants and animals.
