About Us

We are a bakery that specializes in baked goods made with local and organic ingredients. We believe that food should be made with healthy ingredients. In order for food to be healthy, we firmly believe that it should NOT contain artificial colors or preservatives, pesticides, herbicides, or gmo ingredients.

All of our breads are carefully made and baked in small batches and all of our loaves are meticulously formed by hand.

Ingredients We Use

We proudly use organic wheat and spelt from Linden, MI, pastured chicken eggs from Creswick Farms, log grown shiitake mushrooms from Walkerville, maple syrup and maple sugar from Graham House Sugarbush, and fruits and vegetables from various local farms such as Earthscape/Full Circle Farm in Hesperia, Groundswell Community Farm in Zeeland, and Funny Farm in Grant.

Some of our ingredients that are always certified organic are cow dairy products (milk, butter, cream cheese), olive oil, safflower oil, cane sugar products (evaporated cane juice, sucanat, powdered sugar, etc), corn and corn products, soy and soy products, wheat, oats, spelt, barley, and many other grains. All of our chocolate products are organic and fair trade certified. We always use aluminum-free baking soda and baking powder. When the weather permits, we use herbs and spices that have been grown in our own garden, otherwise, we get them from Frontier Co-op.

Highlights

We offer several baked goods that are available on a seasonal basis. We believe in taking full advantage of fruits and vegetables when they are at their best. Jalapeno Cheddar bread tastes so much better when the peppers are fresh and ripe. Pumpkin bread tastes best when it is made with fresh pumpkin. Our Leek and Sage bread is always made with fresh leeks and sage. This means that some of our goodies are only available certain times of the year, but trust us, it’s worth it!
