Shopping and Pick-up Information

This is my first month shopping with the Co-op. What should I expect at pick- up night?
answered on 2017-03-27.     2507 users found this answer helpful.
When you first arrive at pick-up night, you will be greeted by one of our volunteers who will give you a copy of your invoice which reflects the items that you ordered on our website. You will then visit the producers’ tables and pick up the products that you ordered. Often times, producers bring extra products which you will be able to add to your order as you shop at pick-up night if you choose.

After picking up all of your products, you will proceed to our check-out table. At check-out, your invoice will be adjusted if necessary (for instance, if you picked up any extra items). You will then pay for your order using cash or check, or credit.

Please bring your own shopping bags or baskets, as well as cash, card or check for payment.

What do I do if I picked up my order, but once I got home I realize that I forgot something, or that there is an item missing?
answered on 2017-03-27.     2316 users found this answer helpful.
You really need to check your order before you leave the Co-op to make sure you
have everything.

How do I place my order when shopping on the Co-op website.
answered on 2017-03-27.     2269 users found this answer helpful.
When shopping on our website during the shopping cycle, select your items by clicking “Add to basket” for each item that you would like to order. Your final order will consist of all items in your basket at the close of our shopping cycle. There is no “submit” button.

You may edit your basket at any time during the shopping cycle, but the order becomes final and can no longer be edited when the shopping cycle closes.

What do I do if I placed an order, but I’m not able to pick it up?
answered on 2017-03-27.     2268 users found this answer helpful.
Please arrange for someone else to pick up your order for you.

If you have an emergency, call us at 951-3287 before 7:45 on pickup night to make alternate arrangements for a $15 fee. Any orders not picked up by 8pm will be returned to the producers, and the member will be marked as a "Missed Pickup." Advance payment by credit or debit card is preferred for orders which will be picked up late.

While we understand that emergencies may occasionally arise, repeatedly not picking up your order may lead to a cancellation of your membership.

What should I do if I am not satisfied with an item that I purchased?
answered on 2017-03-27.     2261 users found this answer helpful.
Please contact the producer directly. You can find contact information for the
producers on our website. As a courtesy, we ask that you please email us to let us
know of the situation and how the producer resolved the issue.

General Information About the Co-Op

Who manages the Co-op?
answered on 2017-03-27.     2339 users found this answer helpful.
The Co-op is managed by a Board of Directors and assisted by a number of committees. Everyone involved on the board and committees are volunteers. There are no paid staff members. Click on the 'Leadership' link under the 'About' menu for more information about the Co-op’s leadership.

How is the Co-op funded?
answered on 2017-03-27.     2322 users found this answer helpful.
The Co-op is funded solely through the $35 membership fees for all members and producers and the 5% surcharge on all goods bought and sold. The Co-op is a non-profit organization.

Am I purchasing my goods from West Michigan Co-op or from the individual producers?
answered on 2017-03-27.     2256 users found this answer helpful.
The Co-op serves as an intermediary between producers and members. At no time does the Co-op take ownership of the goods sold. Rather, members place their orders through our website and then pick up their goods directly from the producers at our pick-up nights.

For the convenience of both the members and producers, the Co-op collects payment from members on all goods sold. The Co-op then in turn cuts checks to all producers for those sold goods.

How can I become more involved with the Co-op?
answered on 2017-03-27.     2251 users found this answer helpful.
We need people to become more involved. Volunteer opportunities include working with us on pick-up nights in various positions, working at special events that where we promote the Co-op, running for a seat on our Board of Directors, or becoming a member of one of the committees. Check the 'Contact Us' link under the 'About' menu for the email address of the volunteer coordinator.
