About Us

DogWood Farm is a small herb and goat farm in Byron Center, MI. DogWood is committed to sustainalbe farming and the ethical treatment of farm animals. Our entire operation is based on a delightful herd of alpine goats. The herd matriarchs are Belladonna and Mugwort. All the “employees” receive individual attention. They have complete medical coverage and a generous vacation from November to March. The farm also houses Dancing Goat Creamery. The creamery recently received approval to produce farmstead, artisanal goat cheese. Cheese production will begin in April and continue throught October.

Ingredients We Use

Cheese contains fresh goats milk, rennet and culture.

Soaps contain saponified olive, coconut and palm oil, essential oil and various herbs

Our Practices

We use only sustainable, organic farming practices and believe in the ethical treatment of farm animals. We have been organic since 2000 and are in the process of becoming certified.

Highlights

Our cheese maker, Barbara, has attended cheesmaking workshops in Canada, Texas and completed the North Carolina State University Cheesemaking course.

Barbara has been making soap for ten years and is a member of the soapmakers guild.

The property houses a small goat herd, a large herb and vegetable garden, free range heritage chickens and bees.
