Our mission is to inspire and educate each individual on how to take great care in selecting pure and simple ‘good -for -you’ products for themselves, their families and the earth.

Natalie Bauss, Co-Founder, Keeki™ Pure and Simple, LLC Natalie Bauss has been an organic enthusiast for many years. She admits, “A long time ago, before most people knew what organics was all about, my friends were labeling me an ‘organic freak.’” Now, she says, “The funny thing is, now they come to me for advice!”

Growing up in Southern California, Natalie loved going to the beach – and she loved spending hours in her favorite health food store, reading labels and learning all she could about organic products. After getting married and having her first baby, she decided that commercially packaged baby-foods were “not an option.” So she went to a farm, hand-picked organic fruits and vegetables and began making her own baby food.

Later, Natalie and her husband bought a farm in Lowell, MI, where they live today with their two children and two Labrador retrievers. They grow organic fruits and vegetables and raise free-range chickens and alpacas. They enjoy the fresh organic eggs and produce, and even harvest enough to share with local restaurants.

But Natalie’s interest in organics also goes way beyond food. A Board-certified Esthetician, Natalie has worked in the cosmetics industry for more than 20 years. Continuous research on the latest products and trends opened her eyes to the many chemicals and other toxins in mass-market body products.

Concerned by the idea of exposing her children to these toxins, Natalie began making soaps, lip balms, lotions and deodorants with the some of the products produced on her farm. After meeting Katy and finding they shared the same concerns for themselves, their families, and the environment Keeki™ Pure & Simple was born.

The organic life has been an adventure for the whole Bauss family. “We take turns bottle-feeding baby alpacas three times a day,” she says. “The first feeding is 6:00 a.m.” And sometimes it’s hysterical. “We’ll never forget one day I was making lip balm in the kitchen, where our dogs were resting and my daughter Kiana was finger-painting. My son Hunter came in holding an injured bird. The bird got loose, somehow fell between the wall and the dishwasher, the dogs were jumping around and barking and then a cat ran through Kiana’s paint and made bright yellow paw-prints all over everything!”

(The bird survived and was hand-fed and nursed back to health by Natalie’s son Hunter.)

Today, Keeki™ products are made and packaged in orderly, sterile conditions! But the Bauss household continues to explore, and benefit from, Natalie’s research and awareness. “By eliminating elements like refined sugar, preservatives and dust mites from our environment, we were able to drastically reduce my son’s asthma symptoms.”

Combining their passion for food-grade ingredients and the fun and wonder of ‘good-for-you’ products, Natalie created Keeki™ Pure & Simple to bring America’s kids and concerned parents high-quality products.

Katy Scheffler, Co-Founder, Keeki™ Pure and Simple, LLC As an Intern Architect , Katy Scheffler was inspired by buildings that seemed most closely related to their natural surroundings and were integrated into their natural environment. She loved the nature-inspired “organic architecture” of Frank Lloyd Wright and the “Less is more” philosophy of Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe, another famous architect.

Later, as a wife, and as Mom to three girls and two dogs; a Golden Doodle and a Shih-Tzu, Katy’s passions grew stronger for helping her family stay healthy and happy. This wasn’t always easy as Katy’s family has food allergies that include lactose, gluten, wheat and yeast.

Through loving research and determination, Katy learned that whole foods and organic, chemical-free products help her family feel their very best. Excited by this discovery, Katy set out to make eating organic, chemical- and gluten-free tasty and fun.

“I want my kids to have normal lives and eat foods they really enjoy,” she says. “Eliminating the allergens is easy, it is finding foods that are equally as pleasing to replace them that is the challenge”.

Along the way, she also learned that unhealthy ingredients lurked in non-food products too – especially in body and skin care products that attracted her three girls. “My girls love to paint their nails,” she said. “But there are harmful chemicals they can inhale and absorb in most nail polish.” So she set out to find chemical-free products to replace the harmful versions too – which she, along with Natalie, now help bring to other concerned Moms through the Keeki™ Pure & Simple line.

Katy and her family now live in Rockford, MI, where they have fun going together to the Farmers Market and being part of a community food cooperative. They also host an organic vegetable garden, although Katy admits “it ends up feeding mostly the neighborhood bunnies and deer as they get to it before us.”

Happy environmentalists, they also enjoy recycling and exploring new ways to reduce their carbon footprint. This reminds Katy of what her hero Mies van der Rohe said, “Less is more.” Katy says “The ‘less is more’ idea has really helped me in so many areas of my life. The fewer ingredients in a product, the better. Less packaging equals less waste. These are all things we want our kids to understand for a better, healthier life and a better, healthier planet.”

‘good-for-you’ ingredients

These are the ingredients that Keeki™ likes that we include in our products because they come from the earth. They do not harm you or Keeki’s animal friends of the earth with any ‘bad-for-you’ ingredients. In-fact, we use Keeki™ approved, food-grade ingredients whenever possible. Beeswax ~ has emollient, soothing and softening properties and helps the skin retain moisture.

Coconut Oil ~ resists rancidity very well and has a semi-solid consistency.

Macadamia Nut Oil ~ used as an aid against sunburn. Macadamia’s fatty acids are helpful in maintaining the skin’s critical water barrier functions.

Sweet Almond Oil ~ is an excellent natural moisturizer suitable for all skin types.

Stevia ~ a member of the chrysanthemum family is a safe, natural sweetener and sugar substitute. Its leaves are 10 to 15 times sweeter than white sugar.

Nail polish ingredients typically include formaldehyde, toluene, acetone, phthalates, and FD&C colors. The risks associated with these chemicals include everything from birth defects to hormone disruption to increased cancer risks – not to mention the damage they do to the environment.

Keeki™ Pure and Simple offers an alternative to the harsh ingredients found in common nail polish. Keeki™ Nail Polish is water-based and contains no dangerous chemical solvents. The formula is gentle on our bodies and our environment. Please keep in mind, Keeki’s™ polish must be applied according to our recommended application instructions. If application instructions are not followed, polish may be quickly peel off or dissolve when immersed in water. Since the formula is void of the chemical bonding agents that would allow it to do so.
